Healthy Life

When we look at the type of healthy lifestyle prevalent on social media, we’re looking at heightened versions of the truth. They are designed to look perfect, and they don’t necessarily showcase the lives of real people.

Living healthy is more than just healthy eating. While getting plenty of exercise is important for achieving great health, it is not the be-all-and-end-all. There is more to good health than running marathons.

So what does living health entail? In this article, we’ll look at ways you can go about living a healthy life.

What Are the Nine Elements of Health and Wellness?

There are nine pillars of health and wellness. Each pillar represents a different element of our overall wellness, and we must look after each of these areas if we are to stay fit and healthy. These areas include the following:

  • Physical
  • Emotional
  • Intellectual
  • Spiritual
  • Creative
  • Financial
  • Environmental
  • Social
  • Career

Let’s take a look at each of these areas in more depth.

  1. Physical

When we think about our overall health, we often think about physical wellness. Being physically well is a state where you have no injury or illness; however, it is also about feeling physically fit. It can be the difference between waking up raring to take on life and wanting to go back to sleep.

We can manage our physical wellness by getting a well-balanced diet with plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. You may also want to take a gummy bear multivitamin to balance out any missing vitamins and minerals from your diet.

Avoiding sugar and fats will help you to stay healthy. You should also make sure that you drink plenty of water.

Achieving physical wellness also involves getting plenty of exercise and making sure that you rest and get a full eight hours of sleep each night.

  1. Emotional

You may overlook this area of your health, but it is one of the most important aspects of your overall health. Fortunately, in recent years emotional health has started to take a more prominent role.

Your emotional wellness is defined as your ability to understand and regulate your emotions. Looking after your emotional wellness is significant to your health. If you do not look after your emotional self, you may become stressed, depressed, or anxious.

If you are unable to manage your emotional health, you may need to implement some self-care. Writing a journal can help you process your emotions, while writing a gratitude list will help you focus on the things that are good in your life.

  1. Intellectual

Intellectual wellbeing means being able to expand your knowledge using available resources. As humans, we crave stimulation and need to keep learning and experimenting. If we are unable to do this, we can grow restless and may even become depressed.

You can improve your intellectual wellness by taking up a new hobby. You may want to take a course and learn a new language or a musical instrument, or you may fancy trying your hand at painting. Having fun while learning new skills is a great way of looking after your intellectual wellbeing.

  1. Spiritual

You may associate spirituality with religion; however, this is not the only type of spirituality. Spiritual wellbeing means finding a sense of purpose and meaning in your life.

When you have a sense of purpose, you start the day off with good intentions. Your body and your mind will feel more connected, and you will feel present. Having a good sense of who you are is also important to your spiritual wellbeing.

  1. Creative

Creativity can have a profound effect on your wellbeing. When you have a good sense of creative wellbeing, you can appreciate the world around you more. Getting creative is a natural stress reliever and a great way of helping you express your emotions.

To improve your creative wellbeing, all you need to do is create. This could mean working with crafts, writing, singing, painting, or building something.

  1. Financial

We need money in our lives, and our financial wellbeing is important as it gives us a sense of stability in the world. Fortunately, financial wellbeing doesn’t mean wealth; it means having an understanding of your finances.

Being able to budget, raising your income, and lowering your outgoings are all ways that you can work to improve your financial wellbeing.

  1. Environmental

Our environment affects us more than we know. From clutter in a room to the colors of the world around us, everything affects us.

This could be a positive effect. For example, if you are in a clean and tidy space, you will find it calms you. When you are in a place with noise and air pollution, it can harm you.

Take measures to ensure your home environment is as calming and healthy as possible, as this will profoundly impact the way you feel.

  1. Social

We are social creatures, and we need social interaction in our lives. Without this type of interaction, we may become lonely and depressed.

To improve your social wellbeing, you could look at joining a club or finding the time to see friends and family more.

  1. Career

Around a third of our lives are spent in the workplace. This is a lot of time. It is essential that your career satisfies you.

If you don’t find your job fulfilling, ask yourself if there is something more meaningful that you could be doing.

Are You Living a Healthy Life?

Living a healthy life is more than just eating your greens and doing some exercise once in a while. It is about how you interact with the world around you.

Everything can affect your overall health, and you must address every aspect of your life if you want to be truly healthy.
